What stays on your device

Creating documents and running Layout, DPI, and Preflight checks all happen inside Figma. Your designs aren't sent to Printability.

Your presets, settings, custom colors, and your lists of recent creations and exports are saved in Figma's local storage on your device.

What is uploaded

Exports run entirely inside Figma unless you use one of the settings below. A standard RGB export never leaves your device.

The plugin uploads your PDF for processing only when you use one of these export settings:

  • Color Conversion to CMYK or Gray
  • Custom Colors
  • Downsampling
  • PDF/X-4 conformance
  • Trim boxes

Only the exported PDF is uploaded, not your Figma file. When processing finishes, the plugin downloads the finished PDF back to you. See Export with custom settings for how each setting works.

How uploads are protected

Uploaded files and processed results are automatically deleted after 24 hours. While they're stored, they're encrypted at rest. Files are uploaded and downloaded only through time-limited links. See the Privacy Policy for more.

Every upload must be authorized:

  • Print for Figma confirms your Pro plan through Figma's official plugin API.
  • Print for Figma TEAMS confirms your Figma account through Figma's plugin API and checks your team's license activation with Printability.

What the plugin tracks

The plugin sends usage events, such as which features you use, to help us improve Print for Figma. See the Privacy Policy for what we collect and how we use it.
