Set your own page size, margins, bleed, and crop marks, then click Create. Everything on this page is on the New subtab of the Create tab.

Set the page size

The Layout section at the top of the tab sets the size and number of pages.

Enter a width and height

  1. Click Width and type a number.
  2. Click Height and type a number.

Type your own size, or pick a preset to fill in a standard one.

Change the unit

Use the Unit dropdown to switch units. Your size, margins, and bleed convert to the unit you pick.

Rotate the page

Click the rotate icon next to the Layout heading to swap Width and Height. It flips a page between portrait and landscape without retyping.

Set the number of pages

Type a number in Pages to create several pages at once. Every page has the same size, margins, and bleed, and the page numbers keep your PDF page order in sequence.

Add margins

Margins keep text and logos inside a safe zone, away from the trim edge.

Turn on margins

Click + next to Margins to turn them on. The margin fields appear, ready for your values. Turn margins on before you click Create.

Set the margin size

Type a number in Top, Btm, Left, or Right to set that margin. While the sides are linked, one value applies to all four.

  • Type a Top value while the sides are linked, and all four sides change.
  • Click the chain-link icon to unlink the sides.
  • Type a Top value again, and only Top changes.

Unlink the sides to give one edge its own value, such as a wider gutter on a bound edge. Bleed & Crop Marks has the same chain-link icon.

Add bleed and crop marks

Bleed extends your artwork past the trim edge, so small cutting shifts don't leave white edges. Crop marks are optional lines outside the artwork that show where to cut. See What is bleed? for how they fit together.

Add bleed before you click Create

Bleed is added when the page is created, so it can't be added to a finished frame.

Turn on bleed

Click + next to Bleed & Crop Marks to turn bleed on. The bleed fields appear, ready for your values.

Set the bleed size

Type a number in Top, Btm, Left, or Right to set that bleed. While the sides are linked, one value applies to all four.

Choose a bleed mode

Leave Bleed Mode on Expand for most jobs. Expand is the default, recommended, industry-standard option: it adds the bleed outside your page size, so the frame grows to hold it.

Only choose Contain when you know you need it. Contain keeps the frame at the size you entered and takes the bleed from inside it, which suits jobs like home printing on a fixed paper size, where the design must stay within the sheet.

Add crop marks

Open Crop Marks and choose Enabled to add cut guides outside your artwork. Weight, Offset, and Length appear below, so you can adjust the marks if you need to.

Ask your printer whether they want crop marks. Set Offset at least as large as your bleed, so the marks don't sit inside the bleed area.

Design into the bleed area: artwork that touches the page edge runs out to the bleed edge, and text stays inside your margins.

Show or hide guides

Margin and bleed guides are a design aid and don't appear in the exported PDF.

  1. Select the print frame on the canvas.
  2. Press ⇧G/Shift+G to toggle layout guides.

Change the scale factor

Click + next to Advanced to open the Scale Factor setting. Scale Factor sets how large the frame is on the canvas: a higher scale makes a larger frame.

Leave this at 1.0x (native Figma) (recommended) for most pages. Choose a higher scale only if your design uses a lot of blur or shadow effects, which Figma renders as images.

To keep a setup you use often, see Save a custom page preset.
