Size Comparison

Ledger is the same physical sheet as Tabloid (11 × 17 in) rotated to landscape. It is similar in area to A3 (297 × 420 mm) but with different proportions — wider and shorter. The wide format provides nearly 50% more horizontal space than Letter in landscape orientation.

Common Uses

  • Accounting spreadsheets and financial ledgers
  • Large landscape charts and graphs
  • Architectural and engineering drawings
  • Project timelines and Gantt charts
  • Wide-format presentation handouts

Design Tips

  • Ledger and Tabloid are the same paper. When ordering prints, always specify "landscape" or "17 × 11" to avoid receiving portrait-oriented output.
  • For spreadsheets and data-heavy layouts, use a minimum resolution of 300 DPI to keep small text sharp and legible.
  • Add a 0.125-inch bleed when printing charts or presentations with background colors that extend to the edge.
  • Many office printers require manual feed for Ledger. For high-volume jobs, confirm your printer's duplex capability at this size.

Setting Up Ledger Size Files

In Adobe InDesign or Illustrator, select Tabloid (11 × 17 inches) and set the orientation to landscape, or enter 17 × 11 inches directly. Most office applications also support Ledger under page setup. For print, add 0.125-inch bleed. In Figma, the Print for Figma plugin includes a built-in Ledger preset at the correct landscape dimensions with bleed and CMYK export.
